Pets – Alternative Medicine

By Marc Frankland

You may be pleased to hear that pets, including cats and dogs, often respond well to Alternative medicine. This is because natural medicine stimulates the healing process in a subtle way, so results can often be quite remarkable and sometimes unexpected. There are generally no guarantees of success with this type of treatment, and this is also true for humans, however, pets can often make excellent progress even after a recent poor prognosis has been given.

Canine & Feline Diseases

It should come as no surprise that cats and dogs can suffer from similar diseases to humans. Unfortunately they too have to deal with Arthritis, Back Problems, Cystitis, Kidney Disease, Liver Disease, Allergies, Cancer, Diabetes, Heart Disease, IBS, Eczema, Canine Epilepsy, to name just a few.

This may be due to a number of factors including poor diet, stress (yes pets get stressed too!), lack of exercise, and environmental issues.

People sometimes laugh when I mention using natural remedies on Pets, but I think we are all becoming much more open to alternative ways of treating ourselves and our loved ones, which these days definitely includes our Pets. Alternative treatments may be quite rare but lets look at one common treatment which is available and make a few recommendations from there.

Homeopathy

For almost 200 years Homeopathy has been used to treat all types of animals including pets, birds, horses, and even fish. A homeopathic consultation can be given by a traditional homeopath or sometimes by a suitably qualified veterinarian, and occasionally by other Alternative Health practitioners (for example kenesiolgy practitioners). The right medicine is normally selected after consultation with the owner to find out more about the animals condition. Though it is a gentle form of treatment, its not uncommon for the symptoms to worsen slightly before improvement is seen.

The beauty of Homeopathy is that is lacks the side-effects of conventional drugs, so it can be used quite safely to treat dogs, cats, farm animals, sheep and even birds (including caged birds). Common treatments using Homeopathy include: allergies, arthritis, auto-immune disorders, diarrhoea, dermatitis, eczema moonblindness, COPD, corneal ulcer, chlamydia, pneumonia, meningitis, mastitis, ringworm, epilepsy, kidney problems, liver problems, cystitis.

Many pets present with serious behavioural and physical health concerns, they are often stressed by the actual process of being taken to see a health professional. Its best to try to keep your pet calm, and not expose it to any undue pressures whist treatment is being assessed. The good news is, homeopathy can help all animals to alleviate their health problems. Home treatment, however, may not be suitable for many of the presenting problems, so we recommend you seek the advice of a qualified veterinary homeopath where possible. Working through one remedy after another by yourself could have negative effects on your pet. Each cat, dog or bird, is unique and should be treated as such, individual treatment lies at the heart of homeopathy and I hope you will agree they deserve professional treatment as much as we do.

You are so right! Homeopathy does work!

Hi, my name is Alvena and I’m sick with a toxic mold exposure. This has been going on slowly for about 8 months. My homiopaty doctor taday, found the exact sorce of fungus that I had. A few of them are: Stachybotrys Altra, Pennicillium sp, Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus glaucus, Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus terrus, It showed high levels. It showed my that my adrenals are extreamly low, my lymphatics showed several stressed and several weekkend. allergies were weekend, Edocrene Systeme showed all stressed and 1 weekend, and my small intestine showed stressed.

Thank God, my first visit and he can tell me what I had told several doctors over the last two months.

It all started, when I took a job with one of the largest travel agencies in the country. I am a travel consultant. I was hirered in November of 2007. I was there the first work day and noticed how bad the bathroom and breakroom had water spots all over them. They were a light amber color or light rust color. I asked the manager that day when they were going to fix the mold problem downstairs and she said there wasn’t a mold problem downstairs it was a water problem and that it had already been fixed. I said no, that wouldn’t look like that if it was fixed, and that it wouldn’t be showing through if it was fixed. She said that they fixed it about a year ago. I told her that I was pretty sure, that was mold and that I was allergic to mold. She said no it was just water. So I let it go, because the other girls told me that we were going to be getting a new office so they didn’t want to put any money into this one.

In December my 8 yr. old cat got very sick and for a few days she just shook like she was having seisures and wouldn’t move, eat, drink, or even potty. We took her to the vet and she did xrays and it showed a mass or tumer in her lungs. She tried draining it but she died two days later.

Then my dog, an 8 yr. old, 85lb healthy German Shepherd, got sick first she just laid on her couch for a couple days she wouldn’t move. She couldn’t walk she layed in her own urine. I was beside my self, I couldn’t figure out what was wrong so I took her to the vet. He couldn’t find anything wrong with the blood work. He said he didn’t know what it was. We took her home knowing that she was going to die. We turned her every couple hours to keep her from getting sore. We had to carry her out side three times a day and she would lay on the ground to pee and she would have painful bowl movements about every 5 days. She was so sick, and so lethargic.

About 10 days of this went on and then her nose started bleeding and kept bleeding so I took her to the vet and he sent us to Med Vet Hospital. They ran all kinds of tests and they could only find a heart arithmia and sent us home with human heart medicene. She was home about 10 more days and the Vet hospital called and said that they ran a culture on Zena and she had a severe urinary tract infection. She went through 3 rounds of human antibiotics. She just got sicker. We had to hold the food right up to her mouth to get her to eat or drink. She was wasting and had lost 10lbs. She was all gaunt, and barely moved. This has been going on since the first week in Feburary.

Then with me it first started with me having periods every 20 days so I went to the gyno and she did a complete pelvic exam and because my lympnodes under my arms hurt so bad she sent me for a mamograme. she didn’t find anything wrong but said that I could have a procedure to electocute the uterus and it will stop periods. But she said it would make it harder to detect cancer. I chose not to do that yet. She also put me on diuretics because I told her I felt like I couldn’t empty my bladder. That was in March.

Then in April I started having headaches 3 or 4 time a week. I was taking all kinds of allergy and pain medicenes. aleive, advil, motrin, tylenal midal nothing was working. Then I started feeling like I had a cold. I ached all over my ears would hurt and drain constantly. It felt like did when I had mono. I let it go and let it go but I just kept feeling worse. I was sleeping 10 or more hours a day. I would would come home from work completely exhusted. I thought it was seasonal allergies.

I finally went to see my family doctor, in June. I had been having for three weeks, excrutiating headaches that had been constant. My forehead and eyes felt like they were going to explode out of my head. I had been notious for about 2 months, trowing up for almost 2 months. my ears had been hurting and inching and I could hardly sleep because when I woud lay down my ears would drain constant on one side and fill up on the other side. I was getting lightheaded and seeing stars, felt like I had the flu but just kept on. Then I couldn’t read the news paper, like in a couple days my eyes went from 2010 to 2040, and everything is blury. Well my regular MD did a complete checkup and He sent me to the hospital that day for blood work and chest xray, because he didn’t like the way I was weezing. He also gave me an atibiotic for my ears and sinus infection and a shot of steroids. So two days later the doctor’s office calls and wants me to go to the medical center to have an ultra sound on my liver, spleen, kidneys and galbladder.

Two weeks later I called the doctors office and told them to tell the doc. that they were going to scrape and paint our work area and that I was allergic to mold, what should I do. He had the nurse call me and tell me not to go to work but to come to the office the next morning. He checked my sinus and ears and was suprized that I still had so much infection. So then he gave me another prescription for a different allergy medicene and steroid nasal spray. He also took me off work for a return date of unknown because he felt like I was exposed to toxic mold. I told him I had just started reading up on mold because our workplace walls went from a light rust color to a dark color with thick black goey areas. really nasty.

I went to the doctors about every week from my symptoms getting worse. I told the doc. that I had been doing some reading on mold and that everything I read made it very hard to test or know what to test for. Also that antibiotics and steroids will only make me sicker. I told him that now for the last week I had loud ringing in the ears that wouldn’t go away. I begged for an antifungal and he sent me for more blood work and gave me a 10 day supply. It took about two weeks but I think it was starting to work.

Then I went to the hospital for pain and they did a CT scan and found nothing so they had me go to two neurologist and an eye doctor. They found nothing.

Then, finally two weeks later I went to the homeopathic doctor Michael Orr, and he was able to prove what I thought it was. Really bad mold and now maybe with his natural medicene I might get better.

God Bless, you homeopathic doctors and God Bless you Dr. Michael Orr, we appreciate how real and true your techniques are at finding real diseases, infections, funguses, stresses and weekend areas of the body and how fast you can attain this information.

When I get well, I am going to become a advocate for homeopathy medicene as a first result not a second. You can tell them where you hurt or what the symptoms are and they can test you accordingly. Then if you want go to your doctor and show him the results for a second opinion. Not the first!

And best of all since I’m not going in and out of that moldy enviroment for the last 2 months, my dog Zena, after not being able to walk on her own for 6 months, started walking on her own a month ago. I was out of there for a month and she started showing signs of getting better. I don’t think she will ever be 100% but I hope she feels better.

I now know that you can carry the mold spores on your cloths, body, hair, shoes etc. It becomes airborn. My cat Klowie slept in our cloths basket every night, and Zena slept between my husband and self and shared my pillow. She was breathing it through my thick hair.

Again, Thank You for all You do for us!
