The Many Uses of Lavender

Lavendar is a very effective herb for headaches especially when caused by stress. Lavendar can also be used to help depression especially if used in combination with other remedies such as Rosemary, Kola or Skullcap. As a gentle strenthening tonic of the nervous it may be used in states of nervous dibility and exhaustion. It can also be used to promote a comfortable sleep. You can prepare lavendar tea using one teaspoonful of the dried herb in a cup of boiling water. External oils may be used as a stimulating liniment to help ease the aches and pains of rheumatism.

Collection
Usually the flower is the most potent portion of the plant and these should be gathered between early summer and early fall. They should be dried at a temperature of between 30-35 degrees Centrigrade.

Constituents
The flowers contain a volatile oil that includes contains substances such as lanalyl acetate, linalol, geraniol, cineole, limonene and sesquiterpenes.
